Bridget Rood
Bridget Rood is a Registered Nurse who trained in Wellington; she has clinical experience in Paediatrics, Orthopaedic and General Medicine.

Bridget is currently the Product Manager at USL Medical managing the Huntleigh Diagnostic products. Bridget coordinates clinical trials and launching of new products and also provides education on all Huntleigh vascular and obstetric products.

PAD – A marker for future vascular disease (CHD and stroke)

Risk factors for PAD development

• Increasing age (>50 years old)
• Male
• Decreasing activity
• Smoking
• Diabetes – medial sclerosis and calcification
• Hypercholesterolemia
• Hypertension
• Previous myocardial infarction, angina, stroke, TIA

Doppler assessment requires the correct equipment, patient preparation and understanding of the factors that will affect the accuracy of an ABPI measurement.

The concurrent workshop will cover the following:

• ABPI measurement with a Doppler
• Doppler sounds
• PV and Doppler waveforms
• Automatic ABPI
