| Claude Preitner first graduated in engineering before studying medicine in Switzerland, his country of origin. Married to a Kiwi country girl he eventually settled as a GP in his own practice at Rotorua in 1987. He also held an ENT MOSS position at Rotorua hospital for many years. Holder of a commercial pilot licence he became involved with Aviation Medicine since 1990. In 2001 he accepted a position as Senior Medical Officer with the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand. His main activities include the evaluation of pilots with safety relevant medical conditions. Claude also currently consults to a number of organisations, including one PHO. He is a FRNZCGP, a foundation Fellow of the newly established Australasian College of Aerospace Medicine (FACASM), an Associate Fellow of the US based Aerospace Medical Association and a member of the International Academy of Aerospace Medicine. He has been blown away from Wellington, literally, and now enjoys life in Nelson where from he commutes weekly. |
