Silke is the director and principal Dietitian. She began her private practice in 2004. Silke is a nutrition graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics (with distinction, 2003) from the University of Otago. Silke emigrated from Germany in 1996 with a background in Practice Nursing and had specialised in Paediatric Cardiology. In her first 4 years in New Zealand she worked in Mental Health before becoming a Dietitian. After graduating as a Dietitian, Silke worked initially in research and then as a clinical Dietitian at Oamaru Hospital. She is currently providing contracted services to the Ashburn Clinic, PHOs, ACC, Rata South Ltd, Southern Obesity Service. She also works for the University of Otago Dietetics training program as a Professional Practice Fellow [Placement Tutor]. Her main areas of interest are in eating disorders, exploring a non-dieting approach to weight loss, bowel health (IBS/IBD/Coeliac disease), poly-cystic ovaries (PCOS), and food-sensitivity and intolerances including food chemicals. |
