Dr Gareth Morgan
 
Dr Gareth Morgan is an economist, portfolio investor, public commentator and motorcycle adventurer. He has instigated three successful businesses —economics consultancy, Infometrics Ltd; personal portfolio management business, Gareth Morgan Investments; and the Gareth Morgan KiwiSaver Scheme. He is also an active philanthropist, a UNICEF Ambassador, and Patron of the New Zealand Police (Wing 256).
Gareth is a well-known media columnist and commentator and sought-after conference speaker. He has tackled issues as diverse as New Zealand’s financial sector, climate change, tax and welfare reform, the health system, NZ’s fisheries, and Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic island—all with aim of challenging Kiwis to think critically about public policy and how it will affect future generations. 
Gareth’s past directorships include a national legal firm, publicly listed companies, advisory boards of government departments, and New Zealand's largest web site auction house TradeMe Ltd. 
Gareth graduated from Victoria University with a PhD in economics 1982.
